With all the Rainy Weather this weekend we were in search of something fun to do indoors.
After searching online I came across Miami Children’s Museum!
I did not factor in how bad the rain would make the traffic, an hour drive turned into over two hours in stop and go traffic.
As frustrating as the traffic was, I would have to say the trip was worth it!
Parking at the Museum is nice and close and very reasonable at $1 per hour!
They also offer Florida Resident rates with valid ID which takes off $5 per person making admission only $15 per person!
I did not know that today was Bank of America’s Museum on Us Days.
I guess the first Saturday of the month certain museums are free to Bank members.
Between Free Museum day and birthday parties, Lets just say the place was Packed!
I think I may need to look into opening an account with them just to take advantage of this deal, seems to be a good amount of museums in many different states included in this deal.
First thing we encountered was A giant Sand Castle as soon as you walk in. This beautiful sand castle has stairs that led to a slide.
Just past the sandcastle you will find The sea and Me.
This is a hands on water exhibit that was very popular with the kids.
There are a few fishing poles that you can use to catch magnetic fish.
You can catch these fish from the bottom or on top of the boat!
This is a really cute exhibit, but they could use some more fishing poles as the kids had to wait a while to get their hands on one.
Right outside the water exhibit there is a giant touch screen aquarium where the kids can interact with the fish swimming on the screen.
In the same area you will find another set of exhibits called Kidscape Village.
This is like a mini town where kids can pretend they are working different jobs such as A Police man or a Firefighter.
They also have a hospital, bank, supermarket, construction site and an animal hospital for the kids to play pretend in.
This is a really cute area with lots of costumes and props to enjoy.
What I really liked was staff was always around cleaning up the areas.
Exhibits are sponsored by corporate sponsors such as Miami Heat, Publix, Bank of America and Baptist Healthcare.
After we checked out everything on the first floor we headed up the magical singing stairs!
This was a big hit with my daughter. Every stair you stepped on sang and lit up, the last time we got to play on stairs like this she was admitted into Boston Children’s Hospital.
She says one day we need stairs like that in our home. OK little missy let me get right on that for you!
If you know me you know I am a cruise addict!
So when we finally finished playing on the magical stairs and reached the second floor I was very excited to see a cruise ship exhibit!
My daughter dressed up and pretended to dance on stage as if she was right back on the ship, she also put on a towel animal puppet show for me and we enjoyed the island music.
There was also a Port of Miami Exhibit where you could pretend to load the cargo ships or spin a boat wheel to make the boats in the pool of water move.
Next we checked out the music exhibit. There was a light up piano on the floor. This was heaven for my daughter.
She danced her little heart out while she watched the keys underneath her light up. At one point she had a decent sized audience as she performed.
Another really cool exhibit was the art exhibit. They had a few different stations where you could make different crafts. We decided to join the dinosaur making class.
A staff member had the tables lined with materials and tons of wonderful ideas to help the kids be creative and make their own dinosaur.
Miami Children’s Museum also has an outdoor playground. We did not get to enjoy the playground due to the rainy weather. Next visit we will make sure to try it out, I love how it is fully covered and shaded.
There is also a good amount of picnic tables outside where you can sit and have lunch and a Subway inside the museum.
I was also able to get a sneak peak at the new dinosaur exhibit that is coming soon!
This exhibit looks really cool and Opens on June 17, 2017! I can’t wait to go back and see the exhibit once it is fully up and running!
If you are ever in Miami check out Miami Children’s Museum!
We really did enjoy this museum and the best part was every single exhibit is hands on for the kids! The staff members were also very helpful and friendly and the place was clean!
