Have you ever wanted to try Skydiving? It looks really fun but I am going to be honest with you, there is probably no way you are going to get me to jump out of a perfectly good airplane! I kind of just settled on the fact that Skydiving would be one of those activities I just never tried, that is until I was invited to check out Flyaway Indoor Skydiving in Pigeon Forge Tennessee! Inside, Safe and no falling from a plane sounded great to me. When I told the kids we were going to check it out on our Smoky Mountain Vacation they were also super excited!
Flyaway Indoor Skydiving is America’s first vertical wind tunnel where you can break the bonds of gravity! The building was very easy to find right on the main strip in Pigeon Forge! The staff was very friendly and helpful with all my nervous mom questions before we started!
So you are wondering what you are in store for at FlyAway Indoor Skydiving, right? Well first they get you all signed in and weighed.
**Mom Tip – No jewelry is allowed in the tunnel, so leave it at the hotel or rent a Locker**
Than you take a training class. You watch a short training video where they teach you hand signals in the training class to be able to safely communicate with the instructor once you are inside the tunnel. Thumbs up, Thumbs down, relax and other signals to help you fly safely. I really liked that the video was very kid friendly. Very easy for my 8 yr old to pick up on the hand signals and feel comfortable using them. They also taught you how to tuck and roll into the mats. Also very easy for the kids to grasp. After the video was over the instructor quizzed us on the hand signals. They are really into your Safety at Flyaway so make sure to participate and listen to all the rules and information they supply. After the video and quiz you will sign a wavier to fly. It is your standard wavier you sign at most activity places.
Now it was time to suit up. They provide the suit, shoes, gloves, glasses, ear plugs and helmets to keep you safe during your flight.
Than the Big Moment was here : TIME TO FLY!!
Honestly I have never experienced anything like this before and I was not sure what to expect. I went in the tunnel quite nervous and also pretty nervous about my youngest. I wasn’t sure she was going to like this at all. Boy was I wrong, she LOVED flying. As soon as she came out she was raving about how much fun it was. The instructor is in the tunnel with you at all times assisting with the flying. Our instructor was great, he was doing tricks with the kids, we are going so high in the tunnel.
My Youngest was LOVING the whole experience in the tunnel!
Look I even got in on the Action!
My family truly enjoyed our Indoor Skydiving Experience at FlyAway Indoor Skydiving! If you are ever in the Pigeon Forge area make sure to stop by and experience Indoor Skydiving for yourself! This is a great activity for the family to enjoy together. The staff and flight instructors were all very kid friendly, intact when I went into the tunnel with my youngest our flight instructor said “Don’t worry I promise to make sure you both have fun”!
Another great this is there is an observation desk to watch from. So if someone in your family does not want to join or can’t join they can still tag along and watch.

Omg! This sounds like so much fun! I’ve been real skydiving and it was a riot! One of the best and most terrifying experiences ever, but terrifying in the great, “I can accomplish anything now!” Sort of way. I still would love to try this though!
