We were invited to the Polar Express at Gold Coast Railroad Museum In Miami in Florida. Besides almost missing the train due to sitting in traffic for almost three hours, we had an Awesome time! Gold Coast Railroad Museum in Miami is the only location in South Florida that offers the Polar Express Experience.
I know we have all read the book or seen the Polar Express Movie! My daughter and I decided to really get into the Polar Express and wear pajamas to the event. Oh course we has to wear matching Pajamas! How cute are they! Most people were in Pajamas, maybe more kids than adults but there were a good amount of adults in Pajamas too. It was fun to really get into character and the experience!
So what exactly is the Polar Express and is it a real train ride? Yes, it is a real train ride. Once the train pulls into the station the conductor greets everyone and than invites you aboard the Polar Express. Once on board you find you assigned train car. We were in the First Class VIP section. I highly suggest the First Class. There was not too many people in our car, we really enjoyed the personal attention we got from the staff!
So once the train starts they serve hot cocoa and cookies! Yum, both were delicious and so fresh. The conductor also comes around at this time to check your golden ticket While you are enjoying your snacks the Chefs start singing the hot chocolate song. The chefs in our train car were AWESOME! They interacted with the kids, they sang, they danced and they even did tricks on the chairs! The chefs in our car really made the experience perfect! After the hot chocolate they start to read the book Polar Express. They have over sized copies and as they read again they kept the kids very involved, asking questions about the pictures. As they were reading we started to pull into the North Pole where the reindeer were and the elves were playing! Although you do not get off at the North Pole you do pick up a very special guest …. SANTA! The kids went crazy when Santa Boarded the train! He visited each family and took pictures with everyone. He also handed out Christmas bells as the first gift of Christmas! After Santa visited the kids we headed back to the Railroad Museum, but not before having some more fun with our crazy chefs! This time it was interactive Christmas songs! The kids loved to be a part of the song and hold us signs. Again the chefs were dancing and singing away in full character! I will say it again the Chefs were totally Awesome!
The whole ride was about an hour long. I think the pricing is well worth the experience! My daughter was excited the whole time pretty much bouncing out of her seat! The chefs really made the experience! Although this was our first year attending we will go back for sure!
