When I was researching things to do in Gatlinburg, Tennessee a name that I kept seeing was Ripley’s.
Ripley’s has 8 attractions in the Smoky Mountains. Each and every attraction is full of fun for both kids and adults.
Let’s Start with the Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. Right on the front of the building it says “Best Aquarium in the U.S.” and I promise you that they aren’t lying. This place was AWESOME! Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is an interactive aquarium with some unique sea creatures inside. The aquarium also features a 4-story play structure for the kids and touch tanks allowing you to get up close and personal with jelly fish, sting rays, and crabs. The aquarium also has a very unique shark lagoon tunnel. Yes, you actually get to walk underneath the sharks and through the shark tank. That was something I can say I have never experienced before, sharks above your head and all around you. Another one of my favorites at the Ripley’s Aquarium is the penguins. They are so cute and cuddly looking. This was the first time I had seen penguins in person. The penguin exhibit not only has a bunch of cute penguins inside but the kids can crawl through a tunnel under the exhibit to a clear tunnel for a picture next to the penguins. Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies is a must do in Gatlinburg. I can honestly say this is the BEST aquarium I have ever been to.
Another one of our Favorite Ripley’s attractions in Gatlinburg was Guinness World Records.
Located right on the Parkway, this interactive attraction kept my kids busy for hours! When you arrive, you are given a wristband that is programmed with your name and it keeps tracks of all the games you play and the records you attempt. There was everything from the loudest screaming record to hula hooping and so much more. So fun to read all the records and what it actually took for people to win these records. They may look easy but as the games prove, breaking world records isn’t so easy after all.
Feeling Brave? Step inside Ripley’s Haunted Adventure!
If you like scary things, this attraction is perfect for you. This creepy mansion has live actors popping out from every corner to give you a good scare. Just by standing outside you can hear screams from inside. Children must be at least 6 years old to enter.
Do you like going to the movies? Check out Ripley’s Moving Theater.
This is not your average movie experience, this is a 5D movie experience. The seats move and the movie pops out at you as if you were right there in the movie. Admission gets you two short films. We watched “Looney Tunes” and “Angry Birds.” This attraction was one of the kids’ favorites in Gatlinburg.
Ripley’s Believe it or Not Gatlinburg has over 500 Exhibits. They are currently closed as they upgrade to bring you even stranger exhibits in mid 2018!
The mirror maze was fun for the whole family. We laughed the whole way through as we got lost and bumped into mirror after mirror.
**Thank you to Ripley’s for providing my family tickets and to Gatlinburg Convention and Visitors Bureau for helping to facilitate this blog post**
