This past weekend we were visiting some friends in St Augustine. The weather was pretty rainy so we decided to do something indoors but still fun for the kids! They mentioned heading up to Jacksonville to check out Sweet Pete’s. The name rang a bell and I was eager to check it out after remembering seeing Sweet Pete’s on an episode of The Profit!
The outside looks like a cute older house in the middle of the downtown district. All the decorations are so pretty and colorful, but just wait until you step inside! It was candy heaven, multiple floors of candy. You can pack your own bag and they weigh it or there is also sections of pre-packaged assortments.
Not only do they have candy but they also have ice cream and cotton candy. Giant cotton candy that they make right in front of you!
After you pick your candy or whatever other sweet treat your heart desires have a seat in Pete’s Parlor to enjoy your treats! Don’t you just love all the colorful decorations in this place? It’s like a fantasy land inside this cute old house!
After all that Sugar it was time for dinner! Sweet Pete’s has a super cute cafe on the first floor called Candy Apple Cafe! The food was so yummy and fresh but I do highly suggest reservations. The seating is limited and seemed to fill up fast on a Saturday night! They also had a back room where a private party was going on. While you wait for your table check out one of the specialty cocktails or local craft beers they offer.
My favorite part about Candy Apple Cafe is the food is made on site from scratch! Most plates include local ingredients. You can really taste it in the food, everything is so fresh! The Tomato soup was so good, make sure to order a bowl when you visit and crush the crouton into the soup! I also really enjoyed the Reuben sandwich with homemade chips!
Shrimp Crepe was almost too pretty to eat!
Short Rib Meatloaf was also Delicious!
Our favorite picks for the kids meals were Grilled Cheese and Mac & cheese and both homemade, not boxed nonsense! The kids also enjoyed the soup with their meals!
If you are ever in Jacksonville or the surrounding area make sure to stop by Sweet Pete’s & Candy Apple Cafe!
